One of the most important aspects of a business is maintaining accurate books. If done incorrectly, a cascade of issues can follow. Making everything from day-to-day decision making to year-end tax preparation much more difficult.
Unfortunately, this is one of the most overlooked items when someone is starting a new business. There can be a myriad of reasons why owners choose to take this task on by themselves. Whether it be trust issues or underestimating the time commitment. In my discussions with many business owners, it is very easy to push bookkeeping to the back of the "to-do" list. Leading to a backlog of work which can snowball quickly. It is at that point where the realization sets in that it may be beneficial to bring on a bookkeeper. By that time, there is typically a considerable upfront cost to work the backlog in order to get caught up.
Unless you have a background in accounting; it is important to bring in a bookkeeper early so you can avoid this exact scenario which I have seen so many times. As a business owner, there are many things to worry about and an administrative task like bookkeeping should not be one of them. I have extensive knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting platforms. Allow me to set up and maintain your accounting software so you can focus on top line growth strategies and take your business to new heights!
